OK well here's my opinion: why can't there be a compromise? for there to be like a few casual days in a week....and yea i am FOR UNIFORMS. my friend goes to catholic school and it really isn't that bad. from what i read is that the people against uniforms don't like them because they're uncomfortable, not "hot" (lol), or just because the fact that you're wearing the same thing everyday is an....unpleasant(?) thought. well my friends uniform is cotton so it's very comfy, it isn't hot but if you could always get it in a tighter fit, and you can buy more than one can't you? i'm totally for it because then it wouldn't really require us to "dress up" or any of that crap for the opposite sex. honestly, i don't believe in the saying "clothes makes a man", i don't really look in a guy's clothes to figure out if i like him or not. and yea i don't really think a school would let students DESIGN the uniform but i think they would let them modify little parts of it just a little pin or button there...to give them a sense of "identity" or whatever. i know that dressing in our own style is important now especially for us teens cuz, if you admit it or not, we are all figuring out "who we are" and we are ALL attention whores...lol. but yea for now i am for uniforms cuz i'm just plain out TIRED of laying out my clothes each day and wondering what everyone will think whether it be positive or negative. so yea that's what i think for now, i might change my mind i may not but yea if none of what i've just written makes sense to you....blame my late nite seriousness...lol <3

Very good argument, anoLYRAnymous! You've actually kind of changed my mind...it would be very nice to not have to worry about what to wear everyday, and you can always change out of those clothes right after school. So, I think I could go either way.

Me...I really don't care what I wear everyday, just as long as it is not crapy looking. I don't want to be forced into wearing something. I'm in scouts and I don't like wearing that uniform like twice a week. I would hate to wear it everyday. AnoLYRAnymous does have a strong point, but once you have been wearing it a while or maybe for just a few weeks, you would get sick of it and hate looking like everyone else. After all, aren't we encouraged to be different? I know some people dress immodestly. Well if this is a concern, then become more strict. Teachers then must actually say something rather than leave it alone. Most teachers say it is a problem. Well then treat it. The whole school should not be punished for it. The other thing is, I play sports. I can't do anything in a uniform. For example, during lunch, we have a 40 minute lunch period, and me and my friends go and play basketball when we are done eating. I'm not going to play in a little suit. It is not very comfortable. Last thing and I'll be quiet(lol). Kitty, You said that you can change right after school. What about the 6+ hours that you have to sit in school with that thing on? Think about a really, really long church day everyday for 5 days a week. I don't think I would like that. Well, that's what I think right now, and It'll probably take a while for someone to change my mind about it.

exactly, whatever "conditions" and stuff you guys come up with, i'm telling you, they would not be a good thing, or fun for that matter, it would just be an overblown dress code, nothing more, so we might as well not totally restrict our freedom and stick to a dress code

Have you ever wondered why Japan is considered one of the safest countries in the world? We must be like the Japanese! We must! We must! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Ahem, uh, yeah.
You know, my little sister went to a Japanese preschool and had to wear one uniform for the summer and one for the winter. She looked so cute! Anyway, she didn't mind, and she's younger than you guys! She's so mature! ;D

but, even in his offensive comment, he does have a point I think. Thats just a little pre-schooler, a uniform is probably cool to them but not to us. It wasn't because she was so 'mature' i'm thinking, i would think its because she doesn't know anything different since that is whats required and like i said, it might even be cool for her and her little friends.

She didn't think they were cool, she just didn't mind. Well, actually, she did like the winter uniform because she got to wear an "artist's" hat, but yeah, I was really just being sarcastic. Of course she's too young to really care. Then again, she is incredibly smart for her age. Tanman, you really don't know me very well...
